Reviews for Courting Disaster...

What happens is a flowing, gripping, intriguing tale with enough twists and turns to make the final outcome extremely satisfying and leaving one longing for another DiCamillo work.

DiCamillo has a wonderful style. She keeps even the narrative in the style of language at the time so you feel like you’re in post-medieval England/Scotland. She establishes each character well so that they stick in your mind as you read through the book and you can easily identify who is talking.

A great achievement for a budding author. Keep an eye out for Jennifer DiCamillo and other great stuff to come out of Zumaya Publications.

Enjoy Courting Disaster!

Reviews for The Price of Peace...

A novel set in thirteenth century Wales about two people forced into marriage to save their clans. Filled with bloody warfare between rivals, The Price of Peace shows the battles raging within the hearts of its characters.

Vivid imagery and engaging dialogue. Rough heroes and strong heroines. Good verses evil. All this and more make this book an exciting read. So many rules to writing historical fiction in recent years have tossed out the literary templates of classic historical novels where the omniscient point of view was the norm, and the use of certain words that fit the era were what made a historical novel unique to its period. I was pleased that The Price of Peace is a novel that fits the classic style of writing historical fiction. Jennifer DiCamillo is a rising star in this genre.

This book is a complex yet entertaining weave of political ties, negotiations, warfare, and life in thirteenth century Wales. At first, the complex clan ties and large cast of characters is difficult to fully grasp. However, instead of making the book overburdened, this complexity adds an extra aspect of realism. Nonetheless, I suggest frequent reference to the map provided with the book for easier understanding of the placement of key clans.

As the Clans band together to stop Angharad's malignant touch they finally come to realize the extent to which she has gone. It is only through each other and differences aside can they ever hope to be victorious. I found PRICE OF PEACE to be stunningly written with beautifully detailed imagery that embraced my mind's eye. A magnificent story enriched with an extensive and deeply fleshed out cast of warm and realistic characters. Rob and Carys entangled me within their exquisitely ardent embraces and had me caught up in their tumultuous rapture. As the women of the Clans come together and do what their men could not, I found myself shrieking with laughter at their outrageous antics. This book has it all. Tragedy, grief, suffering, love and a whole lot of humor that helped me through parts that left me feeling remorseful. Jennifer DeCamillo has written a book that wasn't afraid to take a chance and explore it all. The PRICE OF PEACE tells a story that should not be missed under any circumstances. Published by Publish America and available as of 2004 I recommend this reading of a richly satisfying historically fictitious novel that will take your heart on one heck of a journey. For the Axtyn's and the Rhyl's the price of peace may have been high, fortunately for us readers the price of this book is not!

The Price of Peace is a wonderful love story written by Ms. DiCamillo that portrays not only the harshness of thirteenth century Wales, but also the real life emotions of the characters. It is refreshing to see characters that are not afraid to cry at the death of a loved one or rejoice in the love that they feel for each other. Secondary characters provide an added layer to the story and their interaction with Rob and Carys add to the story line. The sense of family and camaraderie they feel for each other are welcome additions to this tale of intrigue and suspense. Whether you believe in love at first sight or not, the love that Rob and Carys share becomes very plausible in the pages of The Price of Peace. Do not miss the release of this book in 2004 by PUBLISHAMERICA.

THE PRICE OF PEACE is a very realistic look at life in the thirteenth century in Gwynedd. A time when alliances were made by marriage between the Clans. It was hard to keep track of all the family relationships in this story because of this and I’m honestly not surprised Laird Flint was a little “eccentric”. Jennifer DiCamillo has done a wonderful job of bringing this period to life in her story. Her characters are all very realistic, from Rob’s dealing with his father’s death, to Carys’ quiet handling of what was left of her Clan. My favorite character was Laird Flint’s wife. I love the way she handled her husband and her daughters, which were also a favorite. The two of them were so starved for male companionship, they enlisted everyone’s aid to try and find a husband. Angharad was a truly evil woman, very easy to hate. I highly recommend Jennifer DiCamillo’s THE PRICE OF PEACE to anyone with an interest in this time period, or Wales.

A rocky yet powerful tale about learning to accept what life brings and find unexpected joy in the heart of difficulty. Highly recommended.

This sweeping medieval epic features a huge cast of characters and considers issues of clan and family loyalty, love, and above all, the price of peace. Gorgeous and rich in texture and detail, THE PRICE OF PEACE entertained me into the wee hours of the morning.

I very much enjoyed THE PRICE OF PEACE. In 13th century Wales, neighboring clans exist in a state of uneasy truce punctuated by bursts of bloody war. Carys, a young and innocent woman, finds herself trapped between two clans when her father and clansmen are killed. She and her kinswomen are taken to the victor's home, where she reluctantly falls in love with one of her former enemies. She does not wish to be forced to marry him, or for him to be forced to marry her, but the peace of the land depends on what choice she makes. A sweeping tale of love, war, and ho nor, THE PRICE OF PEACE is good reading.
